International Projects:

We have a long-standing relationship with Pignon, Haiti where medical work teams have gone for several years.  Half of The Joyful Noise Offering collected each Sunday by our children benefit children's programs in Pignon.  We also support mission workers in Malawi and The Congo.

Local Projects:

We serve dinner at Carpenter's Shelter  - The 5th Friday of every month.

We collect food & school supplies, redistribute furniture & household goods for A.L.I.V.E. (Alexandrians Involved Ecumenically).  The other half of our Joyful Noise Offering goes to children's programs through A.L.I.V.E.

We are proud of our relationship with Computer C.O.R.E. (Community Outreach & Education) a 501c3 non-profit organization founded by one of our deacons - Deb Roepke, who is also its Executive Director.  C.O.R.E. teaches computer skills to low income residents, along with mentoring and success strategy education.  Computer C.O.R.E. has won numerous awards and Deb Roepke has received widespread recognition for this life-changing program.  You can participate by tutoring, mentoring, or merely attending our twice-a-year graduation ceremonies which are perhaps the most inspirational events that you will witness.

Other activities we support:

Souper Bowl of Caring -- annual fund-raising for the hungry & homeless, on Super Bowl Sunday; coordinated by our youth

Assistance for Hurricane Katrina victims -- we have covered rent bills for several families who have relocated in Northern Virginia.  Our youth will be traveling to participate in a Katrina-related work camp in June 2007.

The Board of Lady Managers of Inova Alexandria Hospital -- support for service projects sponsored by the Board.

Food & Friends -- we are a drop-off center for this Meals On Wheels program for our neighbors with HIV-AIDS and other chronic conditions.

We consider our building a tool for ministry and are happy to share space with several Twelve Step Groups including AA, NA, and OA.
